 The following faculty members provid the teaching for the MSK short course


Budgie Hussain

Dr. Budgie Hussain, Director

Dr. Hussain has been involved in the education and training of a variety of healthcare practitioners in the safe and competent use of ultrasound for over 15 years. He has designed, piloted and delivered a number of innovative ultrasound courses for GPs, Urologists, A&E Clinicians, nurses and midwives.

Dr. Hussain's current research interests include the use of telemedicine in ultrasound, training and diagnosis of GPs with special interest and the impact of 4-dimensonal ultrasound intervention in the cessation of smoking in pregnancy.


Dr. Raju Peddada

Dr. Raju Peddada, Consultant Radiologist

Dr Peddada Raju is a Consultant Radiologist at the North Tees and Hartlepool Hospital Trust. His Special interests are in Musculo-skeletal Radiology and Cross Sectional Imaging. Raj is a valuable member of the CUS teaching faculty and provides expert knowledge in MSK ultrasound to students.


Marian O'Reilly

Dr. Marian O’Reilly, Consultant Radiologist


Consultant Radiologist and Musculoskeletal Physician

Has worked as consultant radiologist in London and in Ireland with significant experience in musculoskeletal medicine, MRI, CT and ultrasound. She has published extensively and has presented at conferences in the UK, Europe and USA and is frequently invited to teach and lecture in MSK radiology . Has research interests in MSK ultrasound and sports medicine and in particular, the care of amputees.



Dr. James Brown

Dr. James Brown, Consultant Sports Physician

He is a Sports Doctor who has worked in elite sport since 1997, currently with British Triathlon. He has significant experienced in MSK ultrasound and interventional procedures since 2000 and has been a tutor and mentor since 2005.

He has Also worked in large NHS Musculoskeletal service in Leeds and is part time as the Medical Director of Health Partners Europe. He founded UKADIS in 2001.



Dr. John Tanner

Dr. John Tanner, Consultant Sports Physician

Dr John Tanner qualified in 1977 and trained first as a GP, then an osteopath before specialising in Orthopaedic and sports medicine. He pioneered the use of extracorporeal shockwave therapy in tendinopathy in the UK, and has a special interest in chronic musculoskeletal and spinal pain, interventional pain relief techniques and psychological management.

He has established a new course for Post Graduate training for doctors in Musculoskeletal Medicine under BIMM, teaching regularly throughout the UK and Europe on minimally invasive spinal pain treatments, diagnostic ultrasound and musculoskeletal assessment.



Dr. Ralph Rogers

Dr. Ralph Rogers, Consultant Sports Physician

Dr Rodgers is a consultant in sports and musculoskeletal medicine and a fellow of leading sports medicine faculties in the USA and the UK, holds many prestigious posts and sits on National Advisory Boards. His extensive personal and professional experience, from top college lacrosse player to a First Team Doctor at Chelsea Football Club, has equipped him with a deep understanding of the needs of athletes in terms of human performance techniques, nutrition and sports rehabilitation, and he offers the highest quality care to people from all walks of life with sports-related and orthopaedic.

Dr. Rodgers has an MSc in Musculoskeletal Ultrasound and is valuable member of the CUS teaching faculty.



Mr. Mohammad Jelloo

Mr. Mohammad Jelloo, Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon

Mr Mohammed Jelloo is an orthopaedic consultant surgeon and an expert qualified MSK ultrasound practitioner. Mohammed is a valuable member of the CUS teaching faculty and is committed to providing expert knowledge and the highest standards in ultrasound teaching.



Dr Surendra Bandi

Dr Surendra Bandi, Consultant in Spinal Injuries

Dr Surendra Bandi is working as a consultant in spinal injuries and rehabilitation medicine at the Duke of Cornwall Spinal treatment Centre, Salisbury.  He completed training in Orthopaedics, spinal injuries and rehabilitation medicine.

He has a special interest in musculoskeletal problems, pain, spasticity, medical education and research. He teaches on different courses and workshops and is a member of visiting teaching faculty for the University of Health Sciences, India.  He published in different peer reviewed journals and presented his research work at various international meetings around the world.



Dr. Thamindu Wedatilake

Dr. Thamindu Wedatilake, Consultant Sports Physician

Dr Wedatilake completed his Sports and Exercise Medicine specialist training at the Oxford University Hospitals NHS trust. He is a fellow of the faculty of Sport and Exercise Medicine and a council member.  He currently holds NHS Sport and Exercise Medicine consultant post at Oxford University Hospitals NHS trusts.  Dr Wedatilake is a member of the England and Wales Cricket Board medical panel, and works closely with the England womens, lions and academy  programs. He is also the doctor for Surrey County Cricket team. Furthermore he has expertise in managing football related injuries and is a medical officer at Southampton football club.

Dr Wedatilake also worked at the English Institute of Sport and has expertise and experiences in working with Great Britain teams such as swimming, modern pentathlon, athletics, rhythmic gymnastics, synchronised swimming and hockey.  He was a team leader for medical provision at the London 2012 Olympic Games at the basketball venue.


Dr. Mufeed Ni'Man

Dr. Mufeed Ni’Man, GPWSI Sports Medicine

He is a qualified GP who specialises in MSK and sports injuries.  He has been practicing MSK US for over 6 years and teaching on the course for the last 3 years.  He is also the Club Doctor for Bournemouth Football Club.



Mr. Ron McCulloch

Mr. Ron McCulloch, Consultant Podiatric Surgeon

Ron McCulloch is the principal Podiatric Surgeon and Director of the London Podiatry Centre. During his many years as a specialist Podiatric Surgeon, he has performed thousands of successful foot operations.

Ron McCulloch is Consultant Podiatric Surgeon at London's Homerton University Hospital, the official hospital of the 2012 London Olympics. He worked as a Consultant Podiatrist at the Olympic village during the 2012 Olympics and has extensive experience in sports medicine. He continues to provide podiatric care for several premiership football teams and has consulted for Nike, at their headquarters in Oregon. He continues to lecture extensively on the national and international circuit and helped to develop podiatry in the Middle East.


Dave Allen

Dave Allen, Chiro-Sonographer

Dave's initial degree was in Medical Sciences, Bradford University and he worked in research for a few years before joining the AECC. He qualified as a Chiropractor in 1987 and practices locally. Since 2003 he has been dividing his time between private practice and teaching in the final clinical year at AECC. In 2009 he enrolled on the Royal College of Radiologists MSK diagnostic ultrasound course. On completion he began the MSc Ultrasound (MSK) at AECC/Bournemouth University, graduating in 2012.Dave's thesis project utilised ultrasound to investigate the accuracy of acupuncture needle placement.


Jane Cook

Jane Cook, Chiro-Sonographer

Graduated from the AECC in 1989 and worked as a chiropractor in Norwich before returning to the college to undertake a three year radiology residency, graduating with the DACBR in 1993. Jane has worked as a lecturer in musculoskeletal imaging at undergraduate and post graduate level at the chiropractic college for the past 21 years. She has completed an MSc in Advanced Professional Development (2005) and a further MSc in Ultrasound (MSK) in 2011. Jane has been involved in the Centre for Ultrasound Studies in Bournemouth since its inception and enjoys being part of the teaching faculty as well as running musculoskeletal scanning clinics twice weekly.


Alf Turner

Alf Turner, Chiro-Sonographer

Alf has worked as a lecturer in musculoskeletal imaging at undergraduate and post graduate level at the AECC for many years. Alf has postgraduate qualification in musculoskeletal ultrasound and has been involved in the Centre for Ultrasound Studies since its inception and enjoys teaching as well as running musculoskeletal scanning clinics weekly.


Prof. Pat Collins

Prof. Pat Collins, Senior Anatomist

Pat is Professor of Anatomy. She obtained her first degree from Surrey University and her PhD from Cambridge University. She was a Research Fellow of Newham College and taught for a number of colleges during her time in Cambridge. Pat moved to Southampton University Medical School in 1986 where she was involved in the curriculum design of medicine, nursing, midwifery, physiotherapy and occupational therapy programmes, and undertook teaching of anatomy, embryology and histology for these students. Since 1999 she has continued to teach these subjects at the AECC. Pat has been a part of the Editorial team of Gray's Anatomy since 1990 and is working now on the 41st edition.


Mark Maybury

Mark Maybury, Physio-Sonographer

Mark is an extended scope musculoskeletal physiotherapist, at Good Hope Hospital, Heart of England Foundation Trust in Birmingham. He specialises in diagnostic and interventional ultrasound, working in the trauma and orthopaedics, physiotherapy and radiology departments.  He is a faculty member on many of the leading ultrasound courses in the UK, a visiting speaker at several universities. In addition to being a published author, and being a member of the education committee of the British Institute of Radiology, he currently holds an honorary lecturer position at the University of Essex.


John Leddy

John Leddy, Physio-Sonographer

John works part time as a consultant sonographer at the Royal Surrey County Hospital, specialising in diagnostic and interventional ultrasound largely for the orthopaedic and rheumatology specialties. John also supports a number of primary care musculoskeletal services and teaching programmes. John's background is in musculoskeletal physiotherapy and general medical sonography, with a special interest in shoulders and acute abdominal ultrasound.


Phil Hume

Phil Hume, Chiro-Sonographer

Phil is a full-time member of faculty at the AECC and has been involved at the AECC since 2008. He has been involved in ultrasound scanning since 2009 and became a full-time member of faculty on the undergraduate chiropractic program in 2010.


Warren Foster

Warren Foster, Consultant Sonographer

A radiographer from background warren has a sound understanding off all areas of imaging with experience in CT/MRI and angiography before training in Ultrasound.  having spent the last 14 years in medical ultrasound he has cutting edge experience of general ultrasound , obstetrics, gynaecology, vascular and MSK having work both in the UK and abroad.  Warren Currently managers the radiology services for Southernhealth NHS Trust and is a Consultant sonographer working in intervention and diagnostic Services.



Mike Burdon

Mike Burdon, Consultant in Sports and Exercise Medicine

Mike Burdon graduated in medicine from the Royal Free Hospital, University of London in 1994. Mike trained to become a GP and became a fully qualified GP in 1998. He worked at an inner city practice in Plymouth before deciding to change career and become a Sports and Exercise Medicine (SEM) clinician. Mike gained the diploma in SEM in 2004 and then went on to do the MSc in SEM at Bath University- completing in 2010. After further training Mike was then approved by the GMC to become a consultant in SEM in 2013

He has worked in various professional sports including rugby, football, boxing, sailing, diving, swimming and hockey.


Kal Parmar

Kal Parmar, Sports Physician

He is a Sports Physician having undergone basic surgical training in Birmingham and London and Specialist Sports Medicine training at the Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra and through the Australasian College of Sports Physicians in Sydney and Canberra. He has worked full time in Sports Medicine since 2002, working with a variety of teams from grass roots to Professional Teams.

He has a specialist interest in Musculoskeletal Ultrasound scanning having completed his Postgraduate Diploma in Medical Ultrasound. He is on the Faculty of Sports and Exercise Medicine (UK) sub committee for Musculoskeletal Ultrasound and will be running assessments for Sports Physicians as well as courses in Musculoskeletal Ultrasound scanning.


Dr. Chyke Oheugbe

Dr. Chyke Ohuegbe, Senior Sonographer

Dr. Ohuegbe's qualifications include BSc, PgD, MSc (Med Img), MSc (MSK Uss), DIR, DMed Img (in view).

He has a wealth of experience in general, gynaecological, obstetrics, small parts ultrasonography and a specialist in musculoskeletal sonography, with a bias in sonoelastography. He is an adept researcher with special interest in sonoelastography, rheumatology, orthopaedics and sports injuries.
